Nanotechnology is an emerging field that plays a very important role as an advanced technology in many sectors. The industry needs expertise in this field to generate revolutionary technologies and products that improve the standard of living of local and international communities.

The Master of Applied Sciences (Nanotechnology) program is a program that is carefully crafted and highly relevant to the current needs of the nanotechnology industry. This program is capable of producing graduates who have in-depth knowledge as well as the necessary skills in the field of nanotechnology, in line with current developments. For the sustainability of the program, the syllabus for the courses offered will be evaluated from time to time according to the needs of the industry and sectors related to the application of impactful education practices. Feedback and surveys from graduates and employers are also used as a factor to assess the appropriateness of course offerings. This program is in line with the National Nanotechnology Policy and Strategy (DSNN) 2021-2030 and the National Policy of Science, Technology and Innovation (NPSTI) 2021-2030, with the aim to create a dynamic ecosystem and to drive Malaysia towards a high-income economy by 2030.

Need to have at least:
MUET : Band 4

IELTS  : Band 5.5 (academic)

TOEFL: 550 paper-based / 213 computer-based / 80 internet-based

Entry Requirement

Entry requirements for this program are as follows:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in the related field with minimum CGPA of 3.00 or its equivalent or;
  • Bachelor's Degree with CGPA between 2.70 to 2.99 and fulfil at least one (1) criterion as follows or;
    • Universiti Malaya graduate;
    • Has at least one (1) year of working experience in a related fields;
    • Has produced publications in the related fields;
    • Scholarship agency staff;
    • Pass the interview conducted by the Faculty; or
    • Pass the special assessment by the Faculty
  • Bachelor's Degree with CGPA between 2.50 to 2.69 and fulfil the criteria as follows or;
    • One (1) criterion for UM graduate
    • Two (2) criteria for non-UM graduate
      • Has at least one (1) year of working experience in a related field;
      • Has produced publications in the related fields;
      • Scholarship recipient;
      • Government agency staff;
      • Pass the interview conducted by the Faculty; or
      • Pass the special asssessment by the Faculty.
  • Bachelor's Degree with CGPA between 2.00 to 2.49 and fulfil the criteria as follows or;
    • One (1) criterion for UM graduate
    • Two (2) criteria for non-UM graduate
      • Has related working experience in the related field not less than five (5) years;
      • Published at least one (1) publication in a refereed journal in the related field;
      • Passed the interview conducted by the Faculty (compulsory for non UM graduate applicants); or
      • Pass the special assessment by the Faculty.
  • Possessed Professional qualification from a recognized professional body or;
  • Possessed Professional qualification approved by Senate from time to time or;
  • APEL (A) qualification (only for the programme by Mixed Mode and by Coursework)
